"... From a deeper perspective , [Omnia sol] is a reflection on the words of love and commitment in the hearts of those who have been pillars along life's way... leaving a bit of ourselves in every soul we encounter . Though we mature and 'move on,' part of us is 'staid' in the hearts and minds of those we chance to meet."
Excerpt from the meaning of Z. Randall Stroope's, "Omnia Sol"

Costa Rica trip note
April 2016
I worked all summer long and part of the school year to save up for this trip. We learned a lot about Costa Rican culture while enjoying nature and getting to know one another. Some of the activities we engaged in on this trip were hiking, kayaking, white water rafting, horseback riding and ziplining. We also visited an organic farm, toured a coffee/chocolate/sugar farm and visited a local school. We got to interact and communicate with the children. In this letter Mrs. Wolf comments that several students "...did an excellent job using Spanish to communicate with the locals..."
Spanish speaking task
Once every 6 day cycle for JCC Spanish we are required to speak about a certain topic in front of the class. We are graded on how well we pronounce words, our vocabulary usage and appropriate grammar usage. On this particular speaking task I managed to get a 95.
One act plays
Plays I've been in throughout high school and roles played
Disco Fever- mover
Puck and the Players- Titania, the fairy queen
I am Angel- Angel
I have been the lead female in the last 2 one act plays I have done.
Theater is all about communication. Actors/actresses have to communicate with one another on stage and keep the show flowing. The sound and light crew have to be on the same page and know when to do what cues. The stagehands have to pay attention to the actors in order to help them to the best of their ability. I have been in one act plays from 10th to 12th grade.
High School Musical
Musicals I've been in throughout high school and roles played
Peter Pan- Indian
Band Geeks- extra band geek
Moby Dick the Musical- Mary/ Tashtego
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee- Rona Lisa Perretti
My junior year I had a supporting role and this year I had a lead.
Musicals are more complex than one act plays. Musicals require extensive rehearsals and commitment. Although I have only listed 4 musicals I have been in a total of 6 during my career at TI.
I have been taking part in school musicals at the district since seventh grade.
“When I first started out, I was really shy...a family friend suggested that I get involved because I liked music. I made friends my first year and decided to stick with it.”
News Interviews
Top picture (Musical), Bottom picture (Dessert Theater)
Every year the directors for both Dessert Theater and The Musical pick 2 Seniors to represent the group on the local news station to advertise. I got to be interviewed twice with Duncan Richardson.
Morning Announcements
May 2017
Student Council decided towards the end of March that we would have a different student read the announcements over the loudspeaker every Monday so that students and teachers would pay more attention to the announcements. I volunteered to read the morning announcements once.

While I was a candidate for NHS during my sophomore year I befriended Thai foreign exchange student Didi-amal Che. I helped her with English homework and she helped me with Math homework. She wrote in my yearbook "...You always help me in everything and support me in any situations. You became one of my favorite people in USA. Thank you for everything you have done for me so far and thank you for being a great friend!..."

Good sportsmanship is a commitment to fair play, ethical behavior and integrity. In perception and practice, sportsmanship is defined as those qualities which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. St. Mary's Choir
11th grade-12th grade
I have been involved on again and off again with the church choir for about a year now. I joined because people wouldn't stop asking me after they found out that I like to sing. I have sung at the Christmas Eve mass and Easter Vigil so far. I am currently the youngest person involved with the group.
(the picture on the side is a program from An Evening of Sacred Music I participated in over the summer.)
Piano duet
12th grade
I included this Piano 2 duet because Jessica Knapp and I had to work together to prepare a piece from our piano book within a couple of days and perform it. We were both on different parts and the piece challenged us to listen to each other and stay steady.

Pirates of Penzance
When I was 15 I auditioned for the opera program that my teacher started. As soon as the director got done critiquing me my teacher stopped me from leaving. She said she “never knew [I] had it in [me].”
HMS Pinafore
River Light Opera is built on a foundation of community members who love to sing, students and a handful of professionals who sing the main roles. “It was a full-fledged opera. That was one of the biggest surprises; that we could actually get that accomplished to a very high degree in four weeks’ time...When the professionals got there and they heard the chorus for the first time, it startled them...all the professionals turned their heads and went, ‘Wow!’ They were very impressed as to how good they were.” There were 28 community singers in the cast of “H.M.S. Pinafore,” consisting of adults and seven high school students.
Moby Dick the musical
“This show...had the school girls in the beginning of the show performing the roles of the men and boys aboard the Pequod, so they had to dress like boys...Our school usually does some not very well-known shows...The kids and I have learned a great deal about the novel ‘Moby Dick’ as well as historic factors surrounding that time, like the whaling business sailing customs, rituals and terminology” said Mrs. Wiley in a Watertown Daily Times interview.
For my character(s) in Moby Dick I had a total of 3 costumes. I was a school girl in the beginning of the show and then a sailor (Tashtego) and sailor's wife (Mary). At the end of the first act I had to be flexible and switch from a man to a woman twice because our director needed me to help with some vocals on a couple of songs. It made me feel good that she could depend on me regardless of the quick costume changes I had to make.
Area allstate choir
The All-State experience begins with a music educator, his or her student and an accompanist spending countless hours preparing a NYSSMA Level VI solo which must be selected from repertoire lists in the current manual. New York State is divided into 15 regional zones by NYSSMA. The All-State selection “process” begins with the solo being evaluated by a NYSSMA Certified All-State adjudicator at one of these designated sites.
I've only ever been involved in Area allstate once, this year it was at the Crane school of music in Potsdam.
Winter Bi-county chorus
Bi-County Festivals are events where students from all participating districts come together to rehearse and perform repertoire selected by a guest conductor for large group performance. Bi-County Festivals generally include a rehearsal day and another day of rehearsal/concert. The locations vary for each festival. There is an opportunity for students at the 5th -12th grade levels to perform in band and chorus each year.
I have personally been involved in 5 Bi-county festivals from 7th-11th grade.
Select Vocal Ensemble's Dessert Theater
Every year Select Vocal Ensemble puts on a Valentine’s Day-themed production. The group, which performs a largely classical repertoire, shows its versatility at the concert. The show is fully choreographed and accompanied by a live pit orchestra made up of local professional musicians. Silent auction, desserts and coffee. Items up for auction include artwork by local artists, gift certificates from various restaurants and hotels and theme baskets. I have participated in 3 of these productions throughout my high school career.
(Picture is from my Junior year when I had my first duet with Skyler Stewart).
NYSSMA solo festival
I have done a NYSSMA solo from 7th grade- 11th grade. NYSSMA solos allow soloists to be evaluated by adjudicators for different level solos. Solos are chosen from a specific manual, they include pieces in foreign languages and from classic broadway shows. If the soloist scores high enough he or she is eligible to participate in bi-county and all state festivals. For my last NYSSMA solo I did Sorry her lot from Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore, a level 6 solo (the highest level there is). The adjudicator commented on my sheet that "in spite of nerves [that day she saw] a wonderful potential vocally." For notable strengths I got: quality, consistency, projection, posture, accuracy of notes, accuracy of rhythms, steadiness of rhythms, pulse, dynamics, tempo, phrasing and stage presence. My only notable weakness was breath control and I got a 96 in total.
Select Vocal Ensemble voice test
Select Vocal Ensemble is an exclusive group. You have to audition at the end of the year in order to get in. The group attends competition every year in a different destination. Voice tests help us to make sure our sections are balanced and we are on track. Voice testing requires a group effort, each individual has to make sure that he/she is blending not only with their section but also the ensemble.
"Some things don't last forever, but some things do. like a good song, or a good book or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there."

People I've met
These are some people I have gotten the chance to Meet throughout my high school career. Most of these people I met because I have been heavily involved in the music/ theater program.
Glinda workshop
March 2017
This year the cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee went on a field trip to see the Wicked broadway tour in Syracuse. The following monday we met Glinda's understudy Allison Bailey who taught us some dance moves from Dancing through life and let us ask her questions about her theatrical experiences.
Michael Michael workshop
April 2015
In 2015 when Select Vocal Ensemble traveled to New York City for competition we had a private workshop with Michael Dansicker. Dansicker is a vocal coach and audition pianist for aspiring broadway actors/actresses. I also got to work with him recently for a second time. He helped us with our vowel shape and tonality. He stressed knowing the meaning behind the words we sang.
Lisa Vroman's broadway idol
October 2014
Lisa starred for several years on Broadway as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera. Students involved in select choral programs at schools around the area had the opportunity to sing for and with Vroman at the Clayton Opera House as well as hear her stories about her theatrical experiences.
Clayton country jam
September 2015
On 9/11 SVE got to sing God Bless America with country singer Darryl Worley at the Clayton Country Jam which was held at the Clayton Opera House that year. Worley was a gentle giant and seemed to really enjoy performing.
Costa Rica Trip
April 2016
Dauren Hidalgo Torres was our tour guide throughout our 10 day adventure in Costa Rica. He was funny but also very wise. One of the last things he told us before we departed at the airport was to "fight for [our] dreams because [we were] the only [ones] that [could] make them come true." I only knew him for a short amount of time but this man truly inspired me.
(Dauren is the man standing up in the picture).
